At the Wesley University of Science and Technology, Ondo, classroom teaching and other academic activities are based on research, which is conducted to generate knowledge and to solve problems.  In view of the fact that without continued research, only past knowledge could be taught and instruction and knowledge as we know it would quickly stagnate, the University encourages both basic and applied research efforts and pursues vigorous research programmes, in order to as this will extend the frontiers of knowledge. 

In consonance with its mission, Wesley University of Science and Technology, Ondo engages both applied and basic research projects through the underlisted strategies:
 
i.       The University research projects are based in academic departments, inter-College or intra-College organized research units.
Obviously departmental research is the traditional University approach and is usually discipline oriented. Wesley University of Science and Technology, Ondo employs this traditional approach for effective research policy.
ii.      At the Wesley University of Science and Technology, Ondo, a Research Development Centre shall be created, headed by a Director, from where research will be administered.  The research programmes will include:

  1. Laboratory for Animal Resources Programmes
  2. Laboratory for Research on Animal Behaviour Performance
  3. Computation Centre
  4. Materials Research Laboratory
  5. Soil Research Laboratory
  6. Engineering Laboratory
  7. Institute of Land and Water Resources
  8. Transportation Institute
  9. Centre for Environmental Research
  10. Institute for Research on Human Resources
  11. Institute for Demographic Studies.
  12. Biotechnology Centre

iii.     The University will explore research opportunities available in voluntary agencies, industries and other settings and will cooperate, collaborate and coordinate in any area that will be of benefit to human endeavor for the need of the society.
iv.     A modern library, equipped with relevant books, journals, Internet ready computers will be operated by the University to facilitate research programmes.
v.      The University will lay great emphasis on training of students in research and research methodology to equip them with tools for defining and solving problems in their various disciplines.
vi.     All academic staff will be encouraged to undertake research within their areas of discipline. Research will focus on relevance to socio-political economy of the nation. Particular attention will be given to the application of new research tools and techniques to the local environment.
vii.    Research and publications that contribute to knowledge and practice of profession will be an important criterion for promotion of faculty in the University.
